Low salt and low chlorine optionsUpdated 7 months ago

If you're looking for a low chlorine and low salt system for your pool due to proximity to plants and/or a garden, you have a couple of options.

Option 1: Go for a Naked pool system

The Naked Pool System relies on copper and silver ions for disinfection, reducing the need for excessive chlorine. Plus, it’s gentle on your skin (and any nearby plants).

The system runs efficiently, requiring minimal upkeep, however intalling the Naked Pool System involves a significant

What a lot of our customers don't like about the Naked systems is that it can't handle sudden spikes in pool usage (think pool parties, heavy rains, floods, heatwaves), as it doesn't have the option to "Super chlorinate" or ramp up chlorine production.

Option 2: Go for a magnesium system

Magnesium systems are low chlorine, they're safe for surrounding plants, but many magnesium systems require the salt concentration to be at the 3,500 to 4,500 level.

If you're looking for a system that requires salinity no higher than 3000ppm. Our Water TechniX chlorinators require a salinity of between 2500-3500ppm so would work well and can be used with magnesium minerals.

See our collection of salt and magnesium chlorinators here

Please also keep in mind a pool being so close to a garden is likely to have debris washed into the pool during heavy rains and you'll also likely need to keep your phosphates under control. If these things begin to cause issues, the only way may be to have a system that can also ramp up chlorine production when it's absolutely required. This would be tricky with the Naked system.
