The Water TechniX Filter Cleaning solution is designed for use on cartridge filters. 

How to use the cleaning solution to clean filter cartridge elements: 

• Rinse the filter with a filter wand or low-pressure hose.
• Fill a bucket/bin large enough to cover cartridge with water.
• Add 250 grams of product to the water.
• Remove cartridge and immerse in solution for a minimum of 12 hours.
• After 6 hours agitate the cartridge or filter in the water.
• Rinse off with the filter wand or hose to remove any remaining material.
• Reassemble filter, then resume normal filtration.

Note: Although In theory the filter cleaning solution can be used with sand filters by diluting the solution and pouring it directly into the sand filter's chamber, it's really not user friendly and may lead to equipment damage. 

Best practice to keep your sand filters clean is regular backwashing.  

If backwashing no longer cleans your sand filters, it may be time to change out your pool filter sand.
