How Much of <Pool Chemical> do I need?Updated a year ago

The correct answer to that question depends on a number of factors

  • Current Chemical Reading
  • Pool Volume

You cannot just get a bottle of chemical and dump it into your pool. You will first need to test the current level of chemicals that you need. We recommend using a 7-in-1 pool test kit to get a good look at your current chemical levels.

Recommended Chemical Levels / Chemical Notes

  • Pool Chlorine: 2 to 3 ppm
  • Alkalinity Levels: 80 to 120 ppm
  • Calcium Levels: 200 to 400 ppm
  • Cyanuric Acid Levels: 30 to 50 ppm

Use our pool chemical calculator here to accurately calculate how much of a certain chemical you need to add to your pool.

Please take note that our calculator is calibrated to use Water TechniX Pool Chemicals so the recommendations may or may not be suitable for other chemical brands.
